Different Times Same Spirit
160 Years
St Vincent's College, Potts Point is a Catholic Day and Boarding School which was founded by the Sisters of Charity in 1858 to provide a quality education for girls from city, regional and rural locations. Today under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries the mission continues, fostering creativity, discernment and leadership in the development of our students to be courageous women of action.
Different Times, Same Spirit is an oral history project featuring stories from former students and staff, in celebration of the College's 160th anniversary. From wartime bomb raids, awkward school dances and strict routines, to inspirational nuns and teachers and the changing face of Potts Point and Kings Cross, the memories captured in these stories reveal that although they come from different times, the spirit of integrity, generosity and self-belief has endured across the generations.
The interviews and stories featured on this website were conducted and written by professional historian, Nicole Cama.
